a faire fielde ful of folke.

Arts Canada, December 1969. This issues features Canadian grassroots art from coast to coast. My favorite work is by a Mr. Andy MacDonald, who created a creepy roadside village of "people" from Javex bottles, old clothing and discarded everyday remnants. The figures were arranged in a freaky assortment of pantomimes and exhibited a piece of cloth or plastic on which was written a single distinguishing thought, for example: "There's some people that find it hard to smile. To them only, look at the doll baby above." Andy's village was located between Aulac, New Brunswick and Cape Tormentine, en route to the P.E.I. Ferry. I have found no evidence that it still exists today.
