The Scientific Adventures of Baron Münchausen by Hugo Gernsback with Afterword by Burlington, Ontario's Robert Godwin. This novel was first serialized from May 1915 until February 1917 in the author's pop technology magazine, The Electrical Experimenter. Without being dry the piece reads as a series of scientific lectures with sparse dialogue and narrative bridges. Gernback achieves a sort of trustworthy absurdism that leads the mind to a rational yet whimsical place in the spirit of Amazing Stories.

This edition was released in 2010 by Apogee Books Science Fiction with financial support from the Canadian Government.

wolverton bible.

It's a little hard to believe that Basil Wolverton was a devote Christian. I remember as a teenager bugging out on his cover illustrations for Mad Magazine thinking, this man is a freak! In 1941 he was baptized into the Hubert W. Armstrong Radio Church of God, one of these over the top evangelical clans heavy on apocalyptic themes. Wolverton became obsessed with illustrating a more honestly depicted bible story, that could put the fear of God into sinners. In 2009 The Wolverton Bible was released on Fantagraphics Books. The publication features a delightful introduction by Monte Wolverton (son), verses, snippets and illustrations of the old testament like you've always wanted it.
